I'm getting a brand new SBT MR1 going in a 08 VX110. I found a brand new Yamaha oil pump and installed it (the old one ingested metal due to the original SBT engine exploding a piston). I thoroughly cleaned and checked the oil tank and screens put it all together filled it with oil and fired it up. Right away I found it peculiar that the new engine dry oil ticking sound didn't go away for about a minute. It eventualy seemed to quite down and I ran it on the hose for a few minutes when suddenly I got the oil light blaring away. I shut it down checked the oil level and restarted (it was fine). I got a quick flash of the oil light again and though aw crap, good engines don't act like this. I pulled the oil pressure switch to replace it and decided to toss the pressure gauge on to rule out a pump problem. Well their is under a pound of oil pressure at idle and if I goose it it gets up to maybe 2 psi. I pulled gauge and fitting off the engine and fired it up, almost no oil came out of the port. I looked up the port with the bore scope and it dosent appear clogged. I still have the original pump, it's not ruined but it's not perfect. So I cleaned it up and installed it. I also bore scoped the oil passage ways from pump, their was some ugly metal left from machining but I don't think a saw a clog. This time I filled the oil tank and left the cap off and watched it, and sure enough when I fired it up it sucked the oil right down but I had the exact same oil pressure readings as before. I shut it down, topped off the tank and restarted it. I can see oil is circulating in the tank but the engine isn't getting enough. Anyone think a casting isn't fully punched out or oil is leaking in the block? Or any other ideas? Thanks
